Four in the afternoon at Port Vell. The bags are in the cabins, the skipper has finished the briefing, and the city you spent two days walking slides away behind the stern. Tonight, dinner is at anchor.

One week on a catamaran or a sailing yacht, starting in Barcelona, with a professional skipper. The whole boat is for your group, two to eight people.

Cap de Creus, the far end of the Costa Brava week

Two possible weeks from Barcelona

The Costa Brava, with no open-sea crossing

We head north along the coast, cove by cove, up to Cadaqués and Cap de Creus. The first anchorage is three hours away. Land stays in sight all week, and if the wind picks up we tuck in behind the next headland. This is the week for people who do not want long passages. The day-by-day route is here: the Costa Brava by private yacht from Barcelona.

Menorca, with a night at sea

Menorca has to be earned: one overnight crossing out, another one back. In between, four or five days around the island, anchorage by anchorage. It is real sailing, with watches and a sunrise offshore. We offer it to those who want it, never to those who did not ask for it.

You choose between the two before leaving, not once at sea.

Who is on board

A professional skipper who has already sailed the route he suggests. He speaks English, French and Spanish, so tomorrow’s weather and tonight’s anchorage are decided in your language.

A chef, if you want one. The chef goes to the market in the morning and cooks on board all week. Without a chef, we plan the provisioning with you before departure.

Nobody else. No cabins sold to strangers.

The boat

Catamaran or monohull, less than ten years old either way. You know the model and the launch year before you book.

A catamaran does not heel and has a wide saloon on one level: often the right choice for a family or two couples. A monohull fits into the narrow coves of the Costa Brava and costs less in port. We tell you which one suits your week.

What a week costs

From €6,000 a week for the whole sailing yacht, skipper included. The catamaran is quoted by model and season.

Included: the skipper, bed linen, towels, final cleaning and insurance. Extra, and itemised in the quote: fuel, port and mooring fees, provisioning, and the chef if one comes aboard.

These commitments are detailed on the page what we mean by luxury.

Frequently asked questions

Can you charter by the week from Barcelona?

Yes. You board at Port Vell in the early afternoon and come back to the same pontoon seven days later.

Do we need a licence or sailing experience?

No. The skipper runs the boat. Anyone who wants to take the helm or help with manoeuvres is welcome to.

Do we have to cross open sea to have a good week?

No. The Costa Brava is sailed entirely along the coast, in legs of a few hours.

Can we combine it with a few days in Barcelona?

Most groups do: two or three days in the city, then boarding on foot from the centre.

When is the best time?

May to October. June and September give warm water without the August crowds. For Menorca, the week-by-week detail is on when to sail the Balearics.

How do we book?
